I’ll accompany you every step of the way on your wedding dance journey, from helping you select the perfect song and dance style, to working with you both to create a full- or semi-choreographed wedding dance that will leave your reception guests breathless.
Whether you choose a traditional dance such as the Waltz, or a more contemporary dance such as the Hustle, the choice is entirely yours.
I offer instruction in the following dances:
Waltz - Counted in the “1, 2, 3” pattern and danced either in box or traveling form.
Rumba - A slow, sultry dance, often danced with traditional Latin music.
Foxtrot - An elegant, graceful dance that goes well with American popular standards (think of songs in the style of Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald).
Hustle - A versatile, fun dance that can be danced to a variety of popular music.
Salsa - One of the most widely recognized dances with a distinct Latin beat.
Swing - A high-spirited, joyful dance that goes well with traditional swing/big band, pop and rock songs.
Cha Cha - A fun, exciting, sassy dance that can be danced to both traditional Latin and new popular club music.
Do you have a popular or contemporary dance in mind that was not listed above? Let us know! We’d be happy to talk to you about other dance types.
If you have some time before your wedding, say, more than 5 months out, a round of group lessons, followed by a short series of targeted private lessons can be very helpful. The group lessons will help introduce you to social dancing (the cake) and the private lessons will be the finishing touch (the icing).
Have your heart set on dancing to a particular song? I’ll listen to the song and make a dance-style recommendation.
Undecided? I’ll be happy to provide you with a variety of music/song recommendations.
Private lessons are the most efficient way for you to learn your dance well in a short amount of time. For example, if you are on a tight schedule and your wedding is less than 3 months away, a two–month intensive series of private lessons can quickly bring you and your fiancé(e) up to dancing speed.
I typically recommend preparing your wedding dance as early as possible, 4-5 months prior to the big day. An early start will give you more time to become familiar with dance steps and dancing with each other. We’ll also have more time to polish other items related to your wedding dance including framework, presentation, and timing.
You and your fiancé(e) shouldn’t be the only ones having fun learning how to dance! Why not consider sharing the gift of dance with your family and friends?
From wedding party dance instruction, to bachelor/bachelorette parties to wedding reception dance lessons, you can get everyone moving and grooving and having a good time.
